Blue Wood is a four-mallet solo scored for 4.3-octave marimba. This Gershwin-inspired piece features mandolin rolls, Wide intervals (tenths), double vertical strokes, and independent mallet work. It gives advancing students the opportunity to improve on the four-mallet technique and quick alterations of duple to triplet figures.
