Written for his granddaughter in a lullaby style (with a hint of Bach,) this dreamy piece washes simple melodies and hidden countermelodies under a simple harmonic scheme over the performer and listener. The first section uses contrasting melodies to tell the story before ending unexpectedly. The second section moves a half step higher with earlier melodic ideas flowing gently over the vibraphone. Rising broken arpeggiated notes complete this section before an abrupt return to the part of the beginning. A return to the beginning (with a surprise) completes this "song," ending with a pair of two-note motives.
